Once upon a time

18+ Only. Play Responsibly.

Online slot games have followed the fairy tale theme for as long as many can remember as it has always proven rather easy to follow and take inspiration from. Indeed, one of the most famous phrases associated with stories to have fit this particular genre is the “once upon a time”, as many of the tales will start off with this famous line.

Indeed, Betsoft have capitalised on the famous phrasing and the theme it represents by providing their players with the Once Upon A Time slot game. Following the magical elements that a fairy tale can produce, players will be able to learn all about the offering in this Once Upon A Time review.

Gameplay

Betsoft have followed a rather standard 5 reels and 30 paylines format for this particular slot game. Players can place a maximum of five coins per payline, which takes the maximum coin bet to 150 per spin. If you buy coins of $1 denomination, then this translates to a maximum of $150 per spin. The minimum bet is a lowly $0.05, which is good enough for low rollers.

Players can customise the number of paylines made available in this Once Upon A Time slot game, with as few as one available instead of all 30. Players who prefer to play with the maximum levels and wagers can do so with the click of a button as the ‘Max Bet Spin’ function is available

Of course, there are a number of different symbols available for players to try and form winning combinations with on the paytable. The Princess, perhaps most unsurprisingly, is the most valuable icon as she awards players with a payout of 500x the bet when five are triggered. Other icons include a dragon, a goblin, a knight, a banquet, a treasure chest, a sword that is stuck in a rock, a catapult and an axe.

Feature Bonuses

Whilst testing out the slot game for our Once Upon A Time game review, we found that this game has a truly magical element that will appear to a plethora of players. Betsoft have rewarded us with an abundance of bonus features!

The first of the bonus games is the ‘Fire Starter’ and this is triggered when the dragon lands on the topmost line of the centre reel. If this happens, players will see the third reel turn into a reel full of Wilds and will provide them with a huge number of opportunities to form more winning combinations. If the dragon treasure icon also lands alongside the dragon, then an extra spin is awarded.

The next bonus feature e came across is the ‘She Loved The Knight’ game. This is activated when a knight and a princess symbol land adjacent to each other on the middle three reels. Players will receive an instant reward when this happens.

The ‘Crazy Goblins’ bonus feature will see players be rewarded with a round that is akin to a Free Spins feature. When three of the tree house icons land on an active payline, this round will be triggered and can continue to be retriggered if they continue to appear on the reels.

Betsoft could have stopped there, however they also introduced a ‘Click Me’ bonus, in which players can pick from one of the three gold sacks that they land on the reels.

Bettors can also look to ‘Save the Princess’ and ‘Goblin’s Treasure’ in two different bonus games as well. The ‘Goblin’s Treasure’ game takes on a trip through the reels and will see players have to try and steal items to win rewards. Those that manage to trigger the ‘Save the Princess’ feature will become the knight and look to save the Princess from the dragon.
